I want to buy a grandmother!

What was I thinking? To have a child at my age, I mean. Not to mention I live in a rural 'burb which a generation ago was not even part of a city. Where everyone is related to each other and some in more than one generation if you know what I mean! They are so insular!

My grandparents are all gone...have been for more than 20 years. My mother always said, don't bring them home for me to look after! Next decade, OMG I have no grandkids! Next decade: what were you thinking?? You are 45 and not even married!

So I wanna buy a grandmother. Or even rent a grandmother. Someone that my son can call and ask if there's any cookies in the jar that he'll be right over.

There are not enough women in my life!

  1. I feel for your plight. I am nearly forty and have not had children. My parents would make fantastic grandparents. I'm convinced there's a person out there who would love to be an "Auntie".

  3. Oh! I understand You so well! Although I have grandparents (even for myself - my grandmother is 85!), we don`t live in same country, so practically, we don`t have them.. I know, they are spoiling our kids mostly, but I think what my kids need is actually interacting with older people. To hear their stories, to feel affection, other then parents have and to learn that we do grow old...

PS I found your blog trough Etsy :)

But life is good for me today..lots of company!

Glad you found me and thanks for the comment.

  8. Due to a serious condition, my kids cannot be near their biological granny. Their paternal granny does not really like children. I'd love to have a grandmother for them to learn to garden with, bake anything (cookies, cakes, bread), even just be around. Someone they can call grandma and who will love them, cherish them, tell them wonderful stories about her childhood, and do fun things with them. It would be wonderful for them to have someone to love in that capacity who can love them back. They are young (first grade and preschool) and I love their birth grannies despite the situation but they have never really known what it is like to be loved back by a grandma. That would be so wonderful. Funny thing is the race of the grandma is not relavant. Just that she love them and want to teach them and be around them. Indian, Chinese, African, Pakistani, Japanese, Caucasion, Native American, Italian, Mexican, Polynesian whatever! They would even pick up a new language. They really are bright terrific kids and very loving. They just do not have a granny and need one. I live in the sacramento area, any takers? LOL

  9. I'd love to connect with some kids who need a granny/auntie. My kids are grown but not ready to be parents. I sure don't want them to rush it but...

I love children. I'd like children I could bake cookies for and buy little gifts for and who would spend the night some weekends and play with me and my kitties.

I'm in the Nashville, TN area. And Xmas reminds me how much I wish there were kids in my life.
